RADAR #4 will take place in the center of Bucharest between October 27th and 29th, 2023.
The theme of the new edition is LIVE and will explore the role of technology as a medium of creation and augmentation in relation to performing arts and theatre, music, dance and other kinds of performances. RADAR is an annual X-ray of the local new media art industry and a platform that promotes new digital mediums in Romania and emergent artists, supported by UniCredit Bank.
Live New Media Art will encourage the exploration of new phenomena resulting from the interaction between emerging technologies and performing arts. We aim to discover how technology can create a virtual scenography and how artistic interpretation is expanded and augmented. How can we use technology to get closer to the audience and engage with them, make them contribute.
Another aspect we seek to observe is the creation and modification of a virtual identity, how it affects the way we express and represent ourselves in the digital environment.
The 4th edition brings together a selection of multidisciplinary projects created by Romanian artists and developers from all over the country, curated by Alina Rizescu, Dilmana Yordanova, Alexandru Berceanu and Mihai Cojocaru as Creative & Technical Director.
RADAR Kids is the section dedicated to children, where they can explore interactive and educational installations created specifically for them, a category of the festival supported by Lidl Romania and Bucharest District 3 City Hall.
Categories of performative moments: Dance, Sound Design, Theater, Poetry, VJ-ing, Live coding.
The digital art installations showcased in the exhibition use Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Video-mapping and different sensors of interactivity that allow the public to become an active collaborator of the artshow.
